A worldwide reputation

The castle of Vaillac



The castle of Vaillac, a remarkable monument of the 15th and 17th century, opens its doors to you for a visit in the heart of history. An emblematic example of the military castles of the late Middle Ages in the Quercy region, the visit allows you to relive the history of the Lords of Vaillac and discover a group of buildings, each one more beautiful than the next. From its promontory above the village, travel back in time to the Middle Ages, during a visit with commentary by a passionate visitor.


The Champollion Museum

Figeac is classified City of Art and History and the museum has a lot to do with it.
Already from the outside it is beautiful and it sets the tone: on one side a medieval stone façade, on the other a façade with a thousand letters from around the world, made of copper and glass: welcome to the birth house of Jean-François Champollion, who welcomes you from April to December.

From the top of its rocky promontory, this medieval bastide located 12km from Sarlat, will plunge you into the time of the Templars while discovering the traditional Perigordian heritage.

The cave of Lascaux



The Lascaux cave (and not the Lascaux caves) was discovered in 1940 by 4 Perigordian teenagers from Montignac in the Vézère valley in the department of Dordogne - Périgord.

Saint Cirq Lapopie



Near to Cahors, Saint-Cirq Lapopie, elected 1st Favorite Village of the French in 2012, offers the richness of its history and its exceptional viewpoint to the visitor.

All you have to do is take the road, which winds between the Lot River and the cliffs, for the pleasure of discovery to begin. Sometimes deer or squirrels will try to accompany your walk.

Collonges-la-Rouge, a tourist mecca in Corrèze, nestled between walnut and chestnut trees, is a great place to discover the built heritage and to go hiking.

Martel Steam Train



Discovery of the Dordogne Valley by the old railway line carved into the cliff 80 metres high. Each route is planned from Martel to Saint Denis (return journey). Depending on the timetable, a magnificent steam locomotive or a powerful diesel engine is at the head of the train near Martel station, ready to take you on a fantastic journey. A 13 km round trip along the Dordogne valley and its wonderful panoramas.

The Valent-ré bridge in Cahors



This medieval bridge with 3 towers is the pride and joy of Cahors.

An outstanding example of medieval architecture, the Valentré Bridge is classified as a Historic Monument and since 1998 has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Ways of Santiago de Compostela.

Monpazier



Labelled "One of the Most Beautiful Villages in France", the Bastide de Monpazier seduces by its exceptional character; it has remained almost intact since its foundation in 1284 - in the name of King Edward I of England.

Considered the "model" Bastide with a perfect orthogonal layout, it influenced the style of the greatest architects.

Stroll along its narrow streets, stroll under the arcades and discover its market on the Place des Cornières every Thursday morning for over 700 years!

The Autoire waterfall



It is located in the Dordogne valley, 2 kilometres from the village of Autoire. A GR allows you to discover a magnificent part of the river where a 30-metre waterfall - the highest in the department - plunges, which you can see from your foot by taking a path to the right of the waterfall. This same GR joins a ridge - from where there is a superb view of the waterfall and the valley leading straight to Autoire, passing by the "Château des Anglais" or Château de la Roque d'Autoire, dating from the 13th century and having served as a hideout for English companies during the Hundred Years' War. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1925, the fortress, recently restored, is leaning against the cliff and merges with it. Autoire and its surroundings, with its famous and magnificent waterfall, are part of these enchanting places, nestled in the heart of the Lot and which are the soul of Quercy.

The gastronomy of the Lot



From the market stall to the menu of the starred restaurants, you can taste black truffle, Rocamadour cheese accompanied by a glass of Cahors wine, Quercy melon, saffron, or even Quercy farm lamb.... and foie gras. All the flavour and quality of local produce can be found on your plate.
