The castle of Vaillac, a remarkable monument of the 15th and 17th century, opens its doors to you for a visit in the heart of history. An emblematic example of the military castles of the late Middle Ages in the Quercy region, the visit allows you to relive the history of the Lords of Vaillac and discover a group of buildings, each one more beautiful than the next. Martel Steam Train



Discovery of the Dordogne Valley by the old railway line carved into the cliff 80 metres high. Each route is planned from Martel to Saint Denis (return journey). Depending on the timetable, a magnificent steam locomotive or a powerful diesel engine is at the head of the train near Martel station, ready to take you on a fantastic journey. A 13 km round trip along the Dordogne valley and its wonderful panoramas.

An outstanding example of medieval architecture, the Valentré Bridge is classified as a Historic Monument and since 1998 has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Ways of Santiago de Compostela.

The Autoire waterfall



It is located in the Dordogne valley, 2 kilometres from the village of Autoire. A GR allows you to discover a magnificent part of the river where a 30-metre waterfall - the highest in the department - plunges, which you can see from your foot by taking a path to the right of the waterfall. This same GR joins a ridge - from where there is a superb view of the waterfall and the valley leading straight to Autoire, passing by the "Château des Anglais" or Château de la Roque d'Autoire, dating from the 13th century and having served as a hideout for English companies during the Hundred Years' War. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1925, the fortress, recently restored, is leaning against the cliff and merges with it. Autoire and its surroundings, with its famous and magnificent waterfall, are part of these enchanting places, nestled in the heart of the Lot and which are the soul of Quercy.

Lotoises Vélo loops, 37 in number for 510 km, the marking and monitoring of which are carried out by the Department of Lot.
MTB loops, 39 in number for 827 km, the monitoring and marking of which are handled by the Lot Department via Lot Service Training and quality monitoring provided by CODEP.

These mountain bike routes meet the quality criteria of "Qualirando’Lot", aimed at guaranteeing marking and regular maintenance
